The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Territory of Guam, the State of Yap, within the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau

Introduction


The Chief Executives of the Government of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Territory of Guam, the State of Yap, within the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Palau held their Seventh Western Micronesian Chief Executivesí Summit (WMCES) in Saipan, CNMI on March 20-22, 2007.  This Summit resulted in the adoption of regional programs of action in the focus areas of Solid Waste, Invasive Species, Renewable Energy, Transportation, Health, Tourism, Workforce Investment, Zoning and the Micronesia Challenge. 

The Summit reaffirmed the commitment of each of the participants, on behalf of their people and their governments, to establish closer ties, enhance existing ties, expand future discussions and agree on initiatives for the benefit of the entire Western Micronesian Region.

The Honorable Governor Benigno R. Fitial of the CNMI extended his warmest welcome and greetings to President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. of Palau and Governor Felix P. Camacho of Guam.  The Governor also recognized new Governor Sebastian Anefal of Yap and indicated that the Governor was unable to attend this Summit due to pressing matters at home.  Governor Fitial expressed his appreciation for the Governorís and Presidentís attendance and active participation in the 7th Western Micronesian Chief Executivesí Summit.

The Chief Executives heard reports and recommendations from nine committees representing areas of critical importance in the Western Micronesia region and directed action in their respective jurisdictions, as set forth below.

PUBLIC COMMENT NOTICE - Modification of the Guam State Plan and Plans of Work

PUBLIC COMMENT NOTICE

THE GUAM WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD
 

Program Year 2007-2009 Modification to the Guam Workforce State Plan and Plans of Work for Title I of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 and  Wagner-Peyser Act;

On behalf of Governor Felix P. Camacho, the Guam Workforce Investment Board will be submitting its request to modify the state plan and plans of work based on the new strategic vision of the U.S. Department of Labor Employment & Training Administration (USDOL ETA). USDOL ETA Training and Guidance Letter 13-06 outlines the requirements for submitting the modification to the state plan and plans of work.

The state plan and plans of work are posted on the Guam Department of Labor website here.  At this time we invite public comment on developing our modification to cover years three and four of the current five-year planning cycle.  Any interested party wishing to comment on the State Plan modification must do so in writing by close of business on April 9, 2007.  If you prefer to submit comments electronically, click here.
