Guam Hotel and Restaurant Associationís Safety and Security Members Monthly Meeting
OSHA ON-SITEThe Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association’s Committee on Safety and Security held their monthly meeting on March 1, 2006 at the Westin Resort Guest speaker at the event was Mr. Anthony Anderson, Project Manager for the Guam Department of Labor's OSHA On-Site Consultation Program. In his presentation Mr. Anderson expressed his concerns that the anticipated military build-up will foster widespread construction activity that will impact the civilian community as well.  “It is not unlikely that the anticipated increases (activity) will also spur additional expansion or new development within our tourism and related industries.” “Employee safety has always been a critical concern for Guam’s employers”. “Although we welcome the increased development and the anticipated revenue that these construction projects bring to our island, such spontaneous activities present a significant challenge to those Business Owners, Contractors and Safety and Health Managers responsible for assuring safety and health compliance “.

Call for Nominations FlyerThe nomination process is open for the Governor’s Employee Recognition Program.  You have 29 calendar days or 21 workdays, from March 1 to March 31, to nominate superior employees or programs for any one of the twenty-three (23) award categories.

I encourage you to make the time to showcase your best programs and your best employees.  The government of Guam has a wonderful tradition of excellence and commitment to go beyond the ordinary, and it’s time to recognize and Honor Outstanding Public Employees.

MagHOPE 2006 Overview
MagHOPE LogoThe MagHOPE Awards is a government-wide employee recognition program within the Executive Branch of the government of Guam.  It is the highest and most competitive employee awards program bestowed by the Governor of Guam, which showcases the outstanding employees and programs of the government of Guam. The recognition and competition spans over 45 departments and agencies, and 55 occupational groups ranging from clerical, labor, trades, professional and technical positions.  The various awards reflect individual and group performance, valor, cost savings, integrity, community service and sports.
