GUAM VETERANS BUSINESS OUTREACH CENTER
The Guam Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) provides the following business development trainings:

·         HOW TO START A SMALL BUSINESS:  For many people, a business is the culmination of a dream or ambition based on specific skill or interest.  You may know the type of business that you have always wanted to open, but because of lack of finances, resources, time, or self-confidence, you have never been able to put that plan into action.  To start a business, you will need a lot of information, but the basics are simple.  This workshop will discuss the basics of starting a business with emphasis for a veteran-owned small business!

·         HOW TO WRITE A BUSINESS PLAN:  Writing a business plan can be an intimidating task.  But it doesn’t have to be if you take it one step at a time.  This workshop will help guide you through the steps needed to write a business plan.  Remember…a written business plan will help you avoid mistakes and save you grief, time and money!  This workshop will discuss the basics of writing a business plan with emphasis for a veteran-owned business!

·         HOW TO GET A SMALL BUSINESS LOAN:  If you are thinking of starting a business, or an owner of a growing business, one of the greatest challenges you must face is financing your business.  Whether it is for startup, working capital for an ongoing business or growth, it is critical to your success to obtain the appropriate amount of capital from the right sources and with terms structured for your business requirements.  Discussion will include insight into the conditions that are most important to a lender’s decision to approve or decline a loan request; how banks and other lenders operate; the impact of the individual or business credit rating on the request; lending programs and how it affects the ability to obtaining financing.  The training will include an overview of U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Guaranteed Loan Programs.

·         HOW TO DO BUSINESS WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT:  Dealing with the Federal Government can seem like a difficult task at times.  However, with a little patience, persistence and determination on your part – your efforts will be rewarded in the long run.  This workshop is an introduction on how to prepare yourself and your company to become a federal contractor or supplier of either a product or service; understand how to find the opportunities; and learn how to comply with the rules and regulations that federal contractors need to follow.

The training workshops are being offered by Guam Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC).  For more information on registration, training dates and locations, please call the Guam VBOC at 475-4900 or email Cheryl Cruz at 3080ea37fa0afc1c888692e965e319e2   Each workshop fee is $20 per person and payable in cash or check (payable to University of Guam).
