Youth Programs and Related Services Under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) OF 1998 |
The Guam Workforce Investment Board (GWIB) and the Guam Department of Labor/Agency for Human Resources Development (AHRD) has issued Request for Proposal (RFP) AHRD-05-(Y)-0002 for innovative youth workforce development programs to operate under the provisions of the Workforce Investment Act. The Guam Department of Labor/AHRD intends to be as inclusive as possible in the solicitation. The aim is to receive a wide variety of innovative proposals in many areas. |

Current Labor Force Survey December 28, 2005 |

CURRENT LABOR FORCE SURVEY: On 27 December 2005, the Guam Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), began the Current Labor Force Survey (CLFS) to update the official figures on total employment and unemployment on Guam. Bureau of Labor Statistics interviewers, wearing official identification card, will be calling on various households during 27 December 2005 through 11 January 2006.

USCIS Reached H-2B For First Half Of Fiscal Year 2006 |
|
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that as of 16 December 2005, the office received a sufficient number of petitions to reach the congressionally mandated H-2B cap for the first six months of FY2006. Therefore, 15 December 2005, is the “final receipt date” for new H-2B work petitions. The “final receipt date” is the date on which USCIS determined that it has received enough cap-subject petitions to reach the limit of 33,000 H-2B workers for the first half of FY2006.

The Guam Public School System in conjunction with the Department of Labor, Agency for Human Resources Development, Guam Community College, Department of Administration, Department for Integrated Services for Individuals with Disabilities, Guam Memorial Hospital Authority, University of Guam, Department of Public Health and Social Services, KGTF, Office of the Attorney General, Department of Public Works and the Department of Land Management prepare to facilitate the 2005 Passport-to- Careers Youth Employment Program during winter break to provide secondary students in the Career Path the opportunity to receive job entry skills in the Career Path as mandated by Public Law 21-132.
