2008 One Stop Career Center Island-Wide Job Fair held on August 25, 2008

Davis-Bacon Act Seminar
The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed H.R. 5658, the "National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2009".  The bill authorizes defense spending and policy for 2009, and contains several provisions. One provision extends, by law, the Davis-Bacon Act to all military construction projects on Guam, thereby ensuring that construction workers are paid local prevailing wage rates and afforded Davis-Bacon Act "worker protections". While this Bill is still pending in the Senate, we have invited Attorney Brian Darst of the Law Offices of Odin, Feldman & Pittleman, to do a presentation on the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts to educate our local contractors on the practical & legal implications of the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts here on Guam.

Workshop Objectives Includes:

  • Fundamentals And Background Of The Davis-Bacon & Related Acts
  • Key Definitions & Recurring Issues
  • DOL Wage Determination Process & Procedures
  • Administering Contractor Compliance
