O’NET 29-1111.00 Registered Nurses
Job Description: This is moderately complex professional psychiatric nursing work. Employees in this class perform moderately complex professional work independently on an on-going basis and participate in the full range of complex professional cuties under closer supervision. (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties, which may be performed). Independently makes assessment of clients’ physiological and psychological needs in a specialized psychiatric facility to plan individualized care for clients. Documents assessment data; observations, responsiveness to medication, signs, symptoms, and deviations from normal in the client’s clinical record. Participates in collaborative treatment planning with other mental health professional and coordinate with other mental health professional and coordinates the planned treatment efforts. Monitors the total care for clients in a specialized setting or program area. Instructs clients and relative concerning medication and treatment requirements, home care, prevention of illness reoccurrences and promotion of a decreased stressful lifestyle. Assists the physician in preparing clients for physical examination, treatments and/or tests or performs physical screening prior to treatments for tests. Participates in quality assurance programs. May guide less experienced professional staff in learning to maintain a safe and therapeutic patient environment, and providing a therapeutic interpersonal interaction with clients. Documents nursing actions taken, medications and treatments given with response as required.

| Qualifications |
Job Qualifications: Knowledge of professional principles, theories, and practices of professional nursing as applied in a psychiatric setting. Knowledge of personality development theories for evaluating behavior and reaction patterns of patients. Knowledge of group interaction and theories of group therapy. Ability to apply nursing techniques, operations, and equipment, particularly those applied to a psychiatric setting. Ability to make work decisions in accordance with professional standards, rules and regulations and other program guidelines. Ability to follow and administer oral and written instructions.
Ability to interpret and explain the purposes and methods of prescribed treatments and necessity for continuing such treatment to concerned individuals. Ability to instruct subordinate nurses and ancillary personnel in the care and treatment of patients. Ability to work effectively with employees and the public. Ability to maintain records and charts and to prepare reports. Minimum experience and training: Two years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse I or equivalent work and graduation from a recognized school for professional nurses with an Associate’s degree or diploma in nursing and completion of a training program emphasizing psychiatric nursing procedures; or one year of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse I or equivalent work and graduation from a recognized school for professional nurses with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Possession of a current license as a Registered Professional Nurse on Guam.
Salary: $38,189.00 - $57,283.00 Per Annum |
