December 2006 Current Employment Report Print E-mail
The Guam Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics is pleased to release the December 2006 Current Employment Report. 
 
Employment Highlights

Total employment on Guam increased significantly in the latest quarter and year. The estimated increase of 860 jobs over the latest year, raised Guamís total payroll employment count from 58,000 to 58,860 jobs.
 
The number of jobs recorded on the private sector payroll of Guam employers increased by 450 jobs in the latest quarter and 430 over the latest one year period. This quarter, private sector job gains were led by an increase of 290 jobs in the construction industry and 130 jobs in hotels. 

Government employment increased in the latest quarter and year as well. Federal employment increased by 90 jobs in the latest quarter and 230 over the year. Government of Guam numbers this quarter reflect the usual seasonal increase in educational institutions for December, but are up by 200 over the year, with the majority of the increase in autonomous agencies.

Private sector average hourly earnings, average weekly hours paid and average weekly earnings were essentially unchanged in the private sector over the latest one year period.
